Day 4 - Dive Deep
Following the Master | Mauritius Pilgrimage 2021
09 March 2021
‘We are living in an incredible time!’ Guruji exclaimed excitedly as He shared that everyone has the opportunity to dive deep and awaken divine consciousness. But how? To be able to have this opportunity to awaken divine consciousness is a rare gift and as Guruji said, can only be taken deeper by the grace of the guru.
We’ve entered into another nationwide lockdown in Mauritius and Guruji has blessed the pilgrims with an intimate quarantine on the seaside. Many of the pilgrims were actually in quarantine exactly one year ago with Him in Vrindavan. ‘It isn’t just a coincidence we are here,’ Guruji shared with us, including the virtual pilgrims. He gave a beautiful morning satsang requesting that we take this opportunity to dive deep into the wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita. Through this, He says, one can discover their inner divinity and awaken to their full energy in a world which is taken by depression. Without this, we are unable to truly serve.
Guruji beautifully shared the meaning of obedience, which is to be yourself, the inner self. To be your true self and to be ready to transform, ready to awaken, and to be free to arise, that’s what obedience means. Rigidness, stress and being afraid holds one back. The point is with which attitude you are facing life.
He went on to share that it’s so beautiful to see the worship of the deities and all of our personal relationships with the Lord Himself. It’s not a one-sided relationship, as Bhagavan is waiting for us. He said, ‘When you become the gopi inside of you, He is waiting to dance with you.’ He went on to explain that the guru doesn’t ask for anything. The mind just needs to transform through the absorption of the Divine. The first step is to absorb oneself in the Divine, then He becomes the reality, and finally, He becomes your life itself. This is the grace of Ghiridariji!
A Deity Party
Guruji so graciously allowed all of the devotees to bring their deities up for abhishekam. It was a deity party! After abhishekam, Guruji passed out the water to the devotees which was in a very small bowl. Somehow the water never ended as Guruji continued to pass it out to all 100 pilgrims that were there. He was giving a full spoon of the water to each person and the water continued to be full inside the bowl. Another one of his subtle miracles!
Guruji then gave us the direct experience of turning ever more inward through the freshly revealed Mahalakshmi meditation, and, to prepare for going even deeper during Shivaratri tomorrow, a Shiva-lingam abhishekam.
After the abhishekam, Guruji gave an evening satsang explaining the deeper significance of Shiva. He said very often Shiva is associated with destruction but in reality, Shiva means the most fortunate; the most amazing! For creation to happen destruction must be there. But what is he destroying? The things you don’t really need in your life, the negative qualities, so that what you create is more beneficial for your spiritual growth and life. Shiva invites us to, as Guruji said, ‘Dive into the transformation of your mind. Let the union between heart (Shiva) and mind (Parvati) happen. When this union happens, then the consciousness awakens. When consciousness awakens it’s not finished! Actually, this is where bhakti itself arises. Because your atma still longs for the supreme.
The New Ashram
Due to the quarantine, our hotel became like an ashram! We set up the prasad table, we divided the tasks with people in charge of the prasad, the flowers and taking care of the ceremonies. We set up a puja kitchen in what was the bar in front of the beach where we perform the rituals. A team organized for washing dishes and organizing the food, musicians and instruments. Everyone has been so willing to help.
In a walk with Guruji, we told Him, ‘So you finally got your ashram in Mauritius!’ He answered laughing, ‘It looks like that!’ Of course, the staff of the hotel was very stressed with 100 bhaktas in quarantine but after the first night they were laughing with us. It is like our new house! Guruji also spends time with the employees of the hotel. He always stops to ask them about life, God, or just about what they think about the situation of the country! Each time is a new way to bring them into His magical world, at least for a few minutes.
So, here we are, on a tiny island in the middle of the ocean right at the edge where the land touches the sea. Another quarantine with the Master, with nowhere to go but deeper within on His boat towards the only true destination. And we’re just beginning!
The chances of being here seem so unlikely, yet as Guruji always shows, His Love has no boundary and crosses the ocean to all His devotees around the world. Positive feedback from the Virtual pilgrims has been a testimony to this limitlessness.
No matter where you are, we all have this moment, this opportunity to dive deeper.
