#8 | Darshan in Buenos Aires
Following the Master | South America Tour 2019
03 June 2019
Today was the first-ever Argentinian Darshan. Guruji arrived on time for a 1pm start in the heart of Buenos Aires. Around 700 people had gathered to receive Guruji’s blessings from various South American countries, with visitors from Venezuela, Chile, Brazil and more, joining the locals.
Guruji began by singing a Sri Radha Krishna song Guruji had never sung before. He then sang a slightly easier song so that the participants could join in before beginning Darshan. The atmosphere in the room was extremely beautiful, and the longing for Guruji’s blessing was palpable. Two local kirtan bands, ‘Dhas’ and ‘Miguel Brea’, joined us and sang for large parts of the darshan, supporting the Bhakti Marga musicians and leading the crowd into several of their own compositions. Intertwined with Vedic chants, some of the devotees gave moving testimonies about their spiritual path and the impact Guruji has had on their lives.
Adityananda, an Argentinian brahmachari living in Shree Peetha Nilaya, spoke to the Argentinian public for the first time since leaving for Germany. He told his story of how he had travelled to Germany on the recommendation of his father, to meet a great spiritual Master. Upon arriving in Germany, he immediately thought that he had entered a sect because we all had funny paint on our foreheads! However, after some time at the ashram, and having heard many miraculous stories about Guruji, he concluded that although we were certainly still a sect, the people living there were in fact very nice and so he was going to save us from our delusion! What happened next was a gradual process of Guruji challenging Aditya’s mind and opening his heart until he began to see that everything he had thought to be true was only his pre-conceived ideas, judgments and fears. He stood there and spoke very honestly about his challenges and how beautiful the transformation in his life has been, how he has found himself and has purpose and happiness in a way he has never had before. The crowd applauded him, and they were all very curious to speak to him later, inspired by the Grace of Guruji.
As the Darshan came to a close, Guruji sang two more songs, ‘Om Namah Shivaya’ and ‘Garuda Gamana Tava’, and everyone joined in one last time. After leaving the Darshan, the devotees were looking over the Darshan photos when they suddenly realised that Guruji’s yellow robe, contrasting with the sky-blue decoration on His asan, had formed a likeness to the Argentinian flag! It was a sweet end to a historic day for the Bhakti Marga mission in Argentina.
