#7 | First Visit to Argentina
Following the Master | South America Tour 2019
After arriving very late the previous night in Buenos Aires, the group woke up early in preparation for the first-ever Satsangs with Guruji in Argentina! The weather was considerably colder than in Brazil, and so, after putting on as many layers as we could, the group headed out for the events. The Satsang had to be split into two shifts as the venue could only hold 500 people and we had almost 700 registrations.
Guruji received a very sweet welcome from a very anxious crowd. After all, they had been waiting for Guruji for over two and a half years, as the last time He was scheduled to come here, His visit was cancelled at the last minute due to visa issues. However, with no such problems this time, Guruji sat and began to speak.
Except for a short break for the shift switch, Guruji spoke uninterrupted for almost four hours. The first question he received was about why Masters always say that one should only have one Guru. Guruji explained that if a resident of Buenos Aires wished to go to Cordoba (another large Argentinian city) by bus, the most direct journey would be to simply take one bus. However, if the person wishes to go sightseeing around Argentina before finally getting to Cordoba, then the person will take a lot longer. In the end, the idea of following one Guru only depends on how clear we are about our destination, and how strong our longing is.
The second question was incredibly sweet, as a little girl asked if she could hug Guruji. During the break in the satsang, Guruji and the little girl shared an incredibly sweet hug.
After the break, Guruji began by singing a couple of bhajans before deciding to sing the famous song ‘Sabse Oonchi, Prema Sagai’ by Saint Surdas. Guruji stopped at the first couple of verses and elaborated on their translations for quite some time. He told the story of Krishna refusing the invitation of Duryodhan and instead accepting to eat at the house of Vidhur, being fed banana peels by his wife, Sulabha. He went on to tell the story of Sabari as well, concluding that ultimately, without this expression of true Love, the Lord will never respond to our prayers.
Guruji ended up asking the crowd what they understood by the word ‘Love’. After a lengthy discussion, Guruji said that, in truth, until we have an ever-growing, burning feeling in our hearts, then we have not truly obtained that Love. And how do we develop it and work towards it? By loving! Guruji said that it is only by loving that we learn to truly Love. It was a beautiful paradox to end the satsang. Guruji then quickly blessed all the attendees individually before heading out to conclude the first day of events in Argentina.
