On this particular day, Guruji helped in preparing a traditional Mauritian lunch for everybody in the new improvised kitchen. Later during the satsang, Guruji shared how much He enjoys staying and cooking with devotees who are staying here in the ashram. He reminded us that even during quarantine we should stay positive, chanting the Name of God and supporting each other.

In the afternoon, before starting daily the livestream japa, Guruji asked everybody to open their hearts and pray for Mother Earth as well, while chanting the Name of God. A few minutes later, during the satsang, Gurudev reminded us once again about the greatness of Mother Earth, Her generosity and unconditional love that She has for all Her children.

During the satsang, Gurudev was asked about His favourite saint. He replied that all the saints are very dear to Him, as the saints always perceive God Himself dwelling in all beings. He also narrated the story of saint Savatamali, who is particularly dear to His heart. Guruji said that the story of saint Savatamali is a reminder that God is dwelling inside each one of us.

At the end of the satsang, Gurudev commented that, in this era of social distancing, we should not distance ourselves from each other in our hearts, but rather support each other with love and care. Guruji also assured all the viewers that He is thinking of everybody, regardless of the physical distance.

In the evening, Guruji Himself checked the cleanliness of all rooms and areas in Shree Giridhar Dham to ensure that a high standard is kept by the people staying here in the quarantine.

Later Gurudev also joined evening prayers to sing one bhajan to Divine Mother on the auspicious occasion of the first day of spring Navaratri.

The next day, before starting the livestream japa practice, Gurudev asked everybody to keep in our prayers the countries affected most by the Coronavirus, as well as those who already passed away because of it.

During the online satsang, Gurudev took a little bit of time to explain to everybody about the current situation in India. He said, that sadly, people like their problems and fears so much that, during times like this, they just become miserable and judgemental.

When asked about the mantra that He is chanting every day during the livestream japa, Gurudev revealed that He is chanting the Name of Vitthala. Guruji also lovingly said that He really looks forward to each of our group japa practices, when we all connect in spirit despite the distance. He said that when He is chanting, He does it for all of us, but also to inspire us to chant the Name of God daily.

When asked about how to cultivate humility, Guruji said that the Coronavirus itself is teaching a powerful lesson in humility right now to the entire humanity: from low to high, regardless of the colour of our skin or social status.

Guruji also reminded us that we shouldn’t waste our time on trying to understand God or running after the concept of God, but instead, we should focus on building our relationship with Him.

After evening prayers and a short kirtan dedicated to Lord Rama, Gurudev gave a satsang about spring Navaratri and the preparation for Ram Navami. He gave a commentary on the chapter from the Ramcharitmanas about the preparation for Sita’s wedding and explained to everybody in great detail about the 16 types of decoration that women used in those times (with their meanings). By using this example, Guruji showed us how advanced was Vedic civilisation, as well as pointed out how important hygiene and cleanliness was, even in those times - and that we should take it as an example.

Later, at night, Guruji burned some cow dung and camphor oil in the pot and encouraged the devotees to go with it around all the ashram buildings to disinfect the entire area with the help of this fragrant, traditional remedy, while a traditional Tamil song to Divine Mother, Shakti, was sung.

Stay tuned for more posts as we 'stay with the Master' while He is in India!

Jai Gurudev!
