#4 | A day in Belo Horizonte
Following the Master | South America Tour 2019
29 May 2019
Yesterday, the 28th, we had a very special day with Guruji. In the morning, there was a sightseeing tour for Guruji and for the pilgrims in the city of Belo Horizonte. Towards the end of the tour something very special happened: Guruji wanted some 'churros' from a street vendor, and so some of us went to ask if they were vegetarian. It turned out that the lady had a big vegan/ vegetarian concept behind her small business, and so we happily bought several churros. Suddenly the lady started to get emotional, seeing Guruji walking around her stall, and she revealed that it was her birthday, and that in that very morning she had prayed for a sign from God that she's on the right path. She had also asked that her life would become a little easier to manage. Guruji was very gracious and merciful and it became clear that He had insisted on buying churros from that place simply to answer her prayers. She cried for a long time, while continuing to cook and serve us. It was a beautiful moment.
Then, at around 5pm, Guruji began His talk at the University of Minas Gerais, with a crowd of devotees and university students in attendance. He introduced Hinduism and the fundamental questions of life, drawing a thread through the Bhagavad Gita's philosophies that concluded in an explanation of Bhakti. He expanded on the Love relationship with the Lord, explaining that it is the natural, original expression and condition of every soul.
After Guruji's speech there was a short classical sitar concert, followed by an Om Namo Narayanaya kirtan performed by Bhakti Marga devotees. Guruji decided to join the kirtan at the end and sang two extra bhajans. Everyone in the auditorium was singing, clapping and many were even dancing with joy. Many of them wanted to talk to Guruji personally at the end, an opportunity which He kindly extended to many of them.
That marked the end of the day's activities; tomorrow is Darshan day, with around 1,000 people registered!
