#2 | Live Satsangs and Daily Japa Chanting
Following the Master | Vrindavan India 2020
21 March 2020
These last two days were special days in Vrindavan, since Guruji decided to start livestreaming doing 16 malas of japa with Him in silence, every day at 16:15 Indian time. In addition to all the people present in Vrindavan, more than 800 people joined in on the first livestream session. Guruji was very happy and encouraged everybody to intensify our spiritual practice and to keep our focus on the Divine in these uncertain times.
Afterwards the entire group went with Guruji to Keshi Ghat, a picturesque place at Yamuna’s shore, where we continued recording a new kirtan Session. Everybody was dancing joyfully while Guruji Himself was singing along and clapping.
That was not the end of the day. After evening prayers, Gurudev had also given a powerful satsang. One of the questions was: why does Krishna say in the Gita that we should renounce even the guna of sattva. Guruji explained how easily our spiritual pride can be formed if we attach too much to the guna of sattva, sattvic behaviour, sattvic actions, etc. He explained that, due to sense of pleasure and pride that we experience while performing those “good deeds”, even those seemingly good actions can become the cause of our downfall.
After the satsang, Guruji engaged everybody in a joyful kirtan. His face beamed with joy when he sang Krishna’s Name. Everybody was dancing.
The day completed with arati to Yamuna and Giridhari. After the arati Guruji distributed prasad to everybody. A fitting end to another magical day in Vrindavan.
The next day, Guruji did livestream japa with everybody again. Right afterwards, He gave a beautiful livestreamed satsang, in which He so effortlessly and gracefully reminded us to stay positive in these testing times and to use the current world situation for our spiritual progress: to read the Bhagavad Gita daily, do our japa, spend time with ourselves, as well as with our loved ones.
In the satsang, Gurudev also beautifully explained that, no matter how hard the situation may seem for people, Nature itself is finally able to regenerate now - dolphins appeared in the newly clear waters of Venice, birds started to sing in China, and the sky got clearer. He brought our attention to how fast it actually happened. Nature started to 'blooming again' very quickly after everything got locked down. Guruji noticed that it is a perfect opportunity for all of us to finally see our impact on the natural world around us and how we can start living differently, in order to minimise the negative affects on Mother Earth.
Guruji also brought our attention to the fact that shortly before the Coronavirus outbreak, which targets mainly our lungs and respiratory system, there were huge fires in the forests around the world, which are considered the 'lungs of our planet'. He said that it is the time for all humanity to finally wake up and become more aware of the interconnectedness of the natural world.
More than 1100 people joined Guruji on this online japa practice and livestreamed satsang. The recording of the satsang is also available on YouTube, and the plan is to have livestreamed japa sessions and satsangs frequently--which could possibly be every day!
Stay tuned for more posts as we 'stay with the Master' while He is in India!
