# 14 | Unconditional Blessings Around the Island
Following the Master | Mauritius 2020-21
01 March 2021
Every week Guruji gets invited to give darshans all over the island. People started to organise by regions to invite Guruji to places big enough to receive large numbers of people as more and more are sharing His story about coming from Mauritius and growing a mission in the heart of Europe.
One week Guruji gave five darshans in a row! In one of the events, Guruji was received with drums like the kings of bygone eras arriving at a palace. The next day the event hall was decorated for weddings, and the next day He gave darshan in a very humble hall with some fans that were hardly working. People appeared from all around until each place in the hall was full. After each darshan, Guruji shared lunch or dinner with some devotees and accepted more invitations to visit other places.
He keeps showing that His blessings are for everyone. He accepts all the invitations and gives His time if there is a sincere heart calling for Him.
Glimpses of the Pilgrimage to Come
During a temple tour of the island, Guruji stopped to visit several temples including a Maha-Vishnu temple where they regularly host OM Chanting. One of the women who attends the OM Chanting said she could always feel Guruji’s presence when they do OM Chanting. Sweetly, Guruji replied, ‘It’s because I’m always here with all of you.’
On the way back from the temple tour, Guruji saw a house and decided to stop. The house belonged to a family that has been with Guruji since His childhood. It had been more than 26 years since He’d had news of them. The woman living in the home shared childhood stories and reflected on Guruji’s continuous dedication to prayers. She also asked us to pray for her, and Guruji told us to chant the Sri-suktam all together.
Guruji never ceases to surprise us. A devotee invited Guruji and us to spend time together in a park called Vallée des Couleurs (Valley of Colours), where we explored the park, walked along high bridges, went ziplining, and drove big 4x4 cars to reach each destination in the beautiful natural park. But the best part of all was to be graced and guided by the hand of Guruji. That alone makes any place paradise.
Preparations for Shivaratri
Guruji (together with other esteemed personalities of Mauritius, like the Prime Minister) was invited to be part of the Rudra Maha Yaj, the inauguration yajna to bring auspiciousness and welcome pilgrims on their way to Ganga Talao (Ganga Lake). Ganga Talao is a sacred place in which the water is believed to be of the Ganga River itself, so the pilgrims collect that water and offer it to Lord Shiva. Some people walk for days all across the island, other people fast for 11 days. In general, it is a very auspicious time for performing prayers and offering them to Lord Shiva.
After the yajna, Guruji, the Prime Minister and other eminent personalities were all invited to visit and have lunch at the Hindu House Society of Mauritius.
The Maha Shivaratri celebrations in Mauritius are the biggest Hindu festival outside of India, where 500,000 to 800,000 people gather at Ganga Talao from the 8th to 11th of March. This event and the accompanying celebrations will be covered by the Virtual Pilgrimage crew, following Paramahamsa Vishwananda.
